A prosecco and nibbles weekend is to take place at The Necessary Angel in Keswick to thank loyal customers for their support before the doors finally close on the jewellery business.
Deborah Cowin and John Walker have been selling the best of British contemporary jewellery for 34 years – from their shop in Tithebarn Street and previous premises in Packhorse Court – but are now retiring to pursue other passions.
“We’ve seen many loyal customers shop with us for all their jewellery and this is our way of showing our appreciation for their dedication,” said Deborah of the event which is taking place over the May Day bank holiday weekend (May 4 to 6).
The pair opened the enterprise, specialising in handmade jewellery, in February 1990 in Packhorse Court. It was one of the original shops to open following the yard’s redevelopment as a shopping court.
Over the years, The Necessary Angel has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities – mainly local such as Amy’s Care, Eden Valley Hospice, Jigsaw, Search & Rescue Dogs and Bloodbikes to name but a few.
