A town councillor has spoken of her shock at encountering a naked man as she took her dog for a walk.
Cllr Jean Murray told a meeting of Keswick Town Council that she was walking from St Herbert’s Street to Eskin Street and passed a guest house with an outdoor hot tub.
She said that the hot tub is “like a shed with no door on” and there were people inside including a nude man in full view of the public in the early evening.
“This man was oblivious to the fact that I was there and that there were members of the public around,” said Cllr Murray. “There was lots of drinking and stuff going on as well. Clearly it is not acceptable behaviour. We have to ask whoever owns the property to say to their guests: ‘Please don’t walk around in the nude’.
“When it gets to summer it’s going to get even worse because they are going to be at it all day.”
Her revelation was made as councillors discussed some anti-social issues that had been relayed to the authority’s holiday nuisance complaints reporting mechanism that went live in September.
These included a complaint about rubbish dumped at a property on Blencathra Street and excessive noise emanating from a guest house on Helvellyn Street.
