An avid storm chaser caught this electrifying image of a lightning strike on the top of Great Mell Fell.
Jason Hudson, who has been to the United States four times chasing tornadoes in the mid west, said: “I have always been drawn to dramatic weather.
“On Sunday (May 12) I noted a weather warning and began tracking lightning in the late afternoon towards Keswick. As I live in Penrith I travelled down the A66 and intercepted the lighting storm at Troutbeck Road End.
“I figured there would be a good chance of a lightning strike on the top of Great Mell Fell so I set my camera up for time lapsing.
“It wasn’t long before a massive cloud to ground lightning strike hit the summit and the job was done.”
