A Keswick couple are edging ever closer to their goal of raising £1m for the MS Society through their 10in10 challenge.
Yvonne and Duncan Booth announced on social media that this year’s event has so far raised £74,184. That brings the overall total over the 13 years that the challenge has been held to £858,569.
Each June, hundreds of people from around the world come together to scale 10 peaks in 10 hours, in the Lake District fells.
The 10 peaks visited are Causey Pike, Sail, Crag Hill, Wandope, Whiteless Pike, High Snockrigg, Robinson, Dale Head, High Spy and Maiden Moor.
Duncan was diagnosed with MS in 2010. It is a disease that damages nerves in the body and makes it harder to do everyday things, like walk, talk, eat and think.
“Thirteen years of passion and hard graft by everyone involved has resulted in this incredible fundraising total,” said their social media post. “Who would have thought all those years ago when a small army of walkers walked 10 peaks that we would be announcing such an amazing fundraising total.”
