A new couple are to take over the running of Keswick’s George Hotel later this month.
Tim Hollinshead and Paula Randall are to take the reins of the Marston’s hostelry in St John’s Street on September 23.
They currently run The Bush in Cockermouth but now hope to create a new feel about The George Hotel – one of the oldest inns in the Lake District.
“Our locals are the people who make the pub what it is,” said Tim who served more than 24 years in the British forces and is an ex-member of Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) and former search dog handler with Cleveland MRT , and was part of a water team sent into the area during the 2009 floods. “They create the atmosphere and the heart and soul of the place that seasonal visitors love to discover and enjoy all year round.”
Tim added that he is looking forward to the new challenge and meeting people who visit Keswick and plans to make the hotel a warm, welcoming environment for all to visit.
Paula is looking forward to helping make The George about the customer and a well-loved destination for those who enjoy a traditional hotel atmosphere with great food, real ales, lagers, spirits and wines.
“The accommodation has always been the George’s pride and joy and we will work hard to keep up that reputation. There are always a lot of things to do when you take over the stewardship of a hotel and we are looking forward to the challenge,” said Tim. “We hope to restore the George Hotel back to its rightful place as one of Keswick’s best places to stay, eat, drink and be merry.”
Paula has worked alongside Tim and has experience working in various hospitality establishments throughout the UK and abroad.
