Keswick firefighters are inviting members of the public to learn crucial lifesaving skills on Saturday (October 5) following an incident at the town’s station which required emergency first aid to be administered.
A Keswick firefighter was forced to spend 18 days in hospital after he took ill and collapsed at the fire station last month.
Luckily, colleagues were on hand after he started fitting and turned blue, and facilities at the station include a defibrillator on the main fire engine.
An ambulance and air ambulance were dispatched and the firefighter was put into the recovery position before being transported to hospital.
The talk and CPR demonstration follows a request from the firefighter’s partner who said she would not have known what to do if the incident had happened at home.
Sessions will be held from 9-30am to 10-30am and 11am to noon. They are free to attend, open to all ages, and there is no need to book. Call 07921 171662 for details.
