A walker in the Lake District was airlifted to hospital after falling 32ft.
The man was descending Great Gable yesterday, Friday October 4, when he fell and injured his back and head.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called at around 3.20pm and the Great North Air Ambulance and a Coastguard helicopter was also sent to the incident.
The team said: “As Keswick team were making their way from Honister the Great North Air Ambulance approached but due to weather conditions could not land.
“Later as team members arrived at the scene, the Coastguard helicopter arrived and landed on nearby Green Gable.”
The walker was placed into a stretcher and carried down some awkward rocky steps to be airlifted to hospital.
The previous day, the team was called out to Eagle Crag, Langstrath, after a dog became stuck on a ledge.
The collie’s owner had tried in vain to get the dog, but considered it too risky so called for help.
The team said: “Once at the scene two team members scrambled up to the dog, whilst others made their way to the top of the crag and set up a rope system.
“The dog was secured, lowered to the base of the crag in an animal rescue sack and happily reunited with its owner.”
