A normally bouncy and energetic Alaskan Malamute dog had to be rescued by members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team on Monday afternoon after losing the use of her back legs while out on a walk with its owners on Walla Crag.
Being a large dog, the owners were unable to carry Kassi down to their vehicle so called for help. Members of the KMRT stretchered her down to a team vehicle and took Kassi to a local vet for tests and further treatment.
In a post on KMRT’s Facebook page, owner Aidan Powell wrote: “I really appreciate your team’s effort, advice and care. Kassi apparently pulled a muscle or had a spasm in her back legs hence why she collapsed.
“Kassi spent some time with the vets, however they have now released her and she is doing steady/small walks around Keswick. My family have donated to Keswick Mountain Rescue Team. Thanks again. Please, please donate to this great cause.”
