A rousing series of seasonal melodies played by bands on the main square will kick off this year’s Keswick Victorian Fayre.
Organisers are hoping to have 30 charity stalls including a grotto for Santa set up and ready to go by 10am on Sunday December 1 – weather permitting of course.
The stalls will be selling food and Christmas goodies and the entertainment will include Keswick School Band, Cockermouth Ukulele Band, Cockermouth Mechanics Band, the Belfagen Dancers, Committed To Rock, Hunter Hall School Choir, Keswick Amateur Operatic Society, Greystoke Hand Bells, Kikki and others. They will be performing either in the main square or in Packhorse Court. It is intended to have a children’s fair running all day too.
Two bright and cheerfully dressed MCs – Chris Briggs and Neil Airy – will be introducing the players and directing visitors to what will be happening, and where.
There is still room for more local entertainers – and anyone who would like to display their talents should contact Anne-Marie on 07714 099968.
And any charity or local voluntary organisation wishing to have a stall should contact Michelle on 078330 593068. Last year some stalls took up to £1,900.
There will be the usual KVF raffle, drawn by the official guest in the afternoon with prizes donated by local organisations.
Cumberland Council has removed charges for the day from the central car park and members of Keswick Rotary and Lions will be round and about with collecting buckets to help cover event costs.
The main sponsors are: Quilter Finance, Lake District Hotels, Lakes & Dales Co-operative,Keswick Rotary Club, Bassenthwaite Rotary Club, Keswick Lions and Atkinson Building Constructors.
The KVF would not happen without the hard work of the committee – Michele Coates, Warwick Bailey, Anne Marie Green, Neil Beresford, Hayley Peacock, Sam Edward with assistance from Stewart Southerland and Viki Mallaghan, under the chairmanship of Nigel Lewis.
