A man has died after falling 229ft while out on a Lake District fell.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called at around 12.25pm yesterday, Thursday January 2, to Sharp Edge on Blencathra.
The team said: “A Keswick team member already on Blencathra made his way to the scene above Scales Tarn, along with the crew of the Great North Air Ambulance, who landed nearby.
“The Keswick team recovered the body to the helicopter who then airlifted the man to Keswick Mountain Rescue Team base.
“Many thanks to H58, the Coastguard, and to the hill-goers who went to assist.
“Our thoughts and condolences go to the man’s family and friends.”
