A family-owned Lake District hotel group has raised more than £10,000 in support of Keswick Youth Centre Services (KYCS) – doubling its original fundraising goal.
Lake District Hotels chose to support KYCS as part of its 2024 charity of the year initiative with the achievement reflecting the hotel groups ongoing commitment to supporting local causes and its deep-rooted tradition of uniting the community for meaningful change.
The donation will go towards future developments such as a second support worker and the funding of a permanent home for the club which currently meets at the Rawnsley Centre.
Throughout the year, Lake District Hotels hosted a variety of fundraising events, including charity dinners, raffles, and performances. Some key highlights include:
- Pup-up Studio – an event where guests and locals donated to have professional photos taken of their dogs at the Kings Arms Hotel;
- Killer Heels and Cocktails – a stylish evening featuring exquisite food and live entertainment at Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa, raising funds and bringing the community together;
- Kitchen Rivals – a competition where two local businesses prepared a three-course meal, with guests paying what they thought the meal was worth;
- LED Drumming Event – a spectacular Christmas event with LED drumming, live bands, and dancers, entertaining over 3,000 people while raising funds for the cause.
The success of the fundraising initiative would not have been possible without the support of its hotel guests, local businesses, suppliers, and individuals. Lake District Hotels is deeply grateful for their generosity.
Daniella Hope, director of Lake District Hotels, said: “We’ve been so proud to support Keswick Youth Centre Services throughout 2024. The youth club is such an important part of the community, giving young people a safe space to learn, grow, and have fun.
“We were determined to help secure its future, and thanks to the incredible generosity of our guests, suppliers, and the local community, we raised over £10,000 – far more than we ever imagined.
“Every donation will go towards developing the club for the next generation, making sure it continues to be a place where young people can feel supported and inspired.”
Keswick Youth Centre Services (KYCS) offers a safe space for the young people of the town and surrounding area to meet, learn life skills, and it ensures that the youth have somewhere to go, something to do, and someone to talk to.
The organisation’s mission is to empower youth to become the best versions of themselves and thrive within their community.
