A Lake District hotel has undergone an extensive refurbishment and has thrown open its doors to customers.
The restaurant, bar and lounge at the Ravenstone Lodge, Bassenthwaite, have been given a new look and the transformation includes a new dining room that showcases breathtaking views towards the lake and the surrounding fells and fields – now open and taking bookings.
Part of the Mawdsley family’s renowned collection of Lake District hotels – which includes The Ruddings, The Coledale Inn, The White Horse, and Ravenstone Manor – Ravenstone Lodge offers a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere paired with high-quality food and drink.

The restaurant, which already holds an AA Rosette, is now led by head chef Ele Knight. Ele’s menu features seasonally prepared dishes, thoughtfully crafted to showcase local ingredients and bold, comforting flavours.
Guests can also enjoy hand-crafted cocktails in the newly updated bar – a stylish yet unpretentious space perfect for a pre-dinner drink.
When the weather allows, the terrace provides a stunning outdoor setting to enjoy a drink while soaking in the views.

This new chapter for Ravenstone Lodge would not have been possible without the dedication of local tradespeople, who worked tirelessly to complete the refurbishment to an exceptional standard within a tight schedule.
“We’re excited to welcome both locals and residents to experience the new chapter of Ravenstone Lodge,” said a spokesperson for the Mawdsley family. “This refurbishment is about elevating the experience while staying true to the heritage and character that make this place so special.”
