Streetlights will be turned off in the Lake Road area as part of the Keswick Big Switch Off from 9.30pm onwards on Monday.
The Friends of the Lake District is encouraging residents and businesses to turn off their lights overnight to see what a difference it makes to the view of the stars.
Cockermouth Astronomical Society will set up telescopes in Crow Park, giving people the chance to see into the universe.
This is the second lighting switch off in this area of the town, supported by the following partners; Cumberland Council lighting team, Friends of the Lake District, Keswick Tourism Association, Keswick Town Council, The National Trust and The Cockermouth Astronomical Society.
The event is part of the Dark Skies Cumbria initiative led by Friends of the Lake District, and supporting organisations and communities, to help raise awareness about the value of seeing a star laden night sky, to reduce light pollution and save energy.
People with binoculars and telescopes are urged to bring them.
No booking is required.
