Customers have been receiving a warm welcome at a new cafe that has opened in Keswick’s Museum Square.
Anca Ferche, aged 46, who originally hails from Romania but has lived in the town for the last 15 years, is behind the enterprise called Fabrica in the former Kirkbride eye care premises.
The spacious cafe has 40 seats inside and eight outside and there are five full and part-time members of staff in the kitchens and front of house.

“The menu is quite traditionally British with a European twist which means we have got things like soup and quiche of the day which is homemade,” said Anca, who worked as a waitress and pizza chef at Woodstones for seven years.
“Our breakfast is available all day and we have vegetarian and vegan options.” One of her specialties is a Transylvanian goulash which has already been well received by customers. This is Anca’s first time at running a cafe but she has worked in the hospitality business for many years having also been employed at The Square Orange and the Serendipity cafe which has recently closed.

“We are wanting to offer quality food and drinks in a very relaxed environment,” said Anca.
“There are a lot of cafes in Keswick and they are all very busy especially in the summer. “But being off the beaten track and having a big space available, people will find it is somewhere they can find a table and get a quality meal.”
