A condition report to establish if reopening the current Keswick Leisure Pool is an option is currently being undertaken.
In a report to the May meeting of Keswick Town Council, Cllr Sally Lansbury said that since she was elected to serve on Cumberland Council six months ago one of her priorities was to move forward with a strategy to reopen the pool, looking at new partnerships and options.
Cllr Lansbury said that she and the town council had been advising Cumberland Council on behalf of the community and continuing to push for action on ensuring the town has a pool facility.
As well as the preparation of the condition report, Cllr Lansbury reported that an options appraisal of the whole area surrounding the pool is also underway “with broader possibilities under consideration”.
“There is no guarantee of any funding at this stage but we remain hopeful that it can be found and that we can help to show that a great pool facility can be run successfully here,” said Cllr Lansbury in her report to councillors.
