A flood alert in Keswick is one of seven in force across the county.
Flood alerts – which mean flooding is possible and to be prepared – are in force in the following areas:
Coast from Gretna to Silloth – This flood alert has been issued due to the high tide forecast at 11.15pm today. Flooding is possible two hours either side of this time. Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.
The Environment Agency is expecting higher than normal tides over the next few days and as a result, we may issue further alerts and warnings. Its incident response staff are closing floodgates and checking defences. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
Coast from Silloth to St Bees – This flood alert has been issued due to the high tide forecast at 11.15pm today. Flooding is possible for two hours either side of this time. Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water – Derwentwater Lake levels remain high following recent rainfall with water levels remaining high on the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck, Derwentwater and surrounding watercourses. Flooding is likely to continue to affect low-lying land in locations near the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater.
Avoid using low-lying footpaths near these watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through floodwater. With a dry forecast until Saturday levels will continue to recede.
Coast from St Bees Head to Millom – This flood alert has been issued due to the high tide forecast at 11.15pm today. Flooding is possible two hours either side of this time. Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.
