Allerdale has seen a huge drop in the number of new coronavirus cases, according to the latest figures.
Coronavirus cases fell by 20 per cent in the district in the week ending December 10.
There were 1,488 new cases in Cumbria in the same weekly period, a decrease of 33 (-2%), from 1,521 new cases in the previous week.

Other figures
- The infection rates in all districts were below the national and regional averages of 525 per 100,000 for England and 434 per 100,000 in the North West.
- For the fifth week in a row, the 5-11 age group had the greatest number of new cases in Cumbria with 274 new cases. The same age group also had the greatest rate of new cases in the county with 738 per 100,000.
- New cases increased from the previous week in all age groups except the 5-11, 25-29, 30-39 and 60-69 age groups.
- New cases increased by 19% in the 19-24 age group, 10% in the 50-59 age group and by 13% in the 70-79 age group.
- New cases in the under 50 age group accounted for 77% of total new cases (the same as last week).
- The rate of new cases in the under 50 age group was three times higher than the rate of new cases in the 50+ age group (the same as last week).
Hospitilisations
Data for the week ending December 14:
- The number of new patients admitted with COVID-19 in North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC) decreased by four from the previous week and the average number of patients with COVID-19 in beds in NCIC decreased by two from the previous week;
- The number of new patients admitted with COVID-19 in University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMB) increased by 14 from the previous week and the average number of patients with COVID-19 in beds in UHMB increased by nine from the previous week.
Deaths
In the week to December 3, there were five COVID-19 related deaths in Cumbria.
