Popular and emerging gin distilleries will get a chance to showcase their products at a special event being held this month in Keswick.
A month-long showcase at the Inn on the Square will include talks, Q&A sessions – and free gin!
The venue is owned by Lake District Hotels which has six hotels across the Lake District and is planning a series of events for 2022.
Director Dani Hope, runs the business with her parents Charles and Kit Graves.
She said: “There are so many fantastic independent gin distilleries in Cumbria and we wanted to give some of them the opportunity to showcase their products and also to spend some time explaining a little about their story and journey.
“We’re very much looking forward to sampling some fantastic gins and to meeting the people behind the businesses in a relaxed setting.”
A number of different initiatives will run alongside the showcase events at the Inn on the Square, including daily gin special offers, expertly curated gin boards, G&T cake and coffee – and the Bombay Gin Tree; 12 G&Ts on a tree.
Three Cumbrian distilleries have been lined up to appear at the showcases. On January 13, Wolftown Gin, based in Ulverston, south Cumbria, will be in the spotlight.
The distillery has two signature gins; the multi-award winning Wolftown Original and the more recently released Wolftown Citrus.
John McKeown, who founded the business in 2018, said: “Launching a new business is difficult at the best of times, so we were delighted when Lake District Hotels chose to stock Wolftown Gin in 2020, in our first year of operation. It’s even more heartening as we enter 2022 that they are still serving it.
“We have picked up a number of awards for our Wolftown Original including a gold medal in a blind tasting competition run by the two largest beverage publishers in the world and most recently a gold medal in the Europe Wine and Spirits Trophy.
“We hope that some of that success rubs off on our latest release, Wolftown Citrus Gin and we can’t wait to meet people later this month to tell them more about our brand.”
On Thursday, January 20, another south Cumbria-based distillery will take centre stage when Shed One Gin heads the showcase.
After being established in 2016 by Andy and Zoe Arnold-Bennett, the business has gone from strength to strength, boasting a variety of awards for its now extensive range of gins including Cuckold’s Revenge and Shed Loads of Love.
The trio of distilleries is rounded off on Thursday, January 27 by the longest-established of the three, Keswick-based Bedrock Gin, which after 13 years of trading has developed an enviable selection of gins with Vince Wilkins at the helm.
The gin showcases will be hosted by deputy general manager at Inn on the Square, Dale Pitchers.
He said: “We pride ourselves on an amazing range of drinks, spirits and cocktails and wherever we can support local producers, we will do so.
“All three of the gins in this month’s showcase come from fantastic businesses with great stories to tell and we’re very much looking forward to hearing them as we enjoy samples of their fantastic produce.”
Showcase evenings begin at 6pm. To register your complimentary place at one of the pop-ups, call 017687 73333.
