A group of men near Thirlmere called out mountain rescuers after one injured his leg with an axe.
The men were bivvying on Raven Crag and called for help when one of the group hurt himself while out collecting wood for their fire on January 7.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team drove up the snowy forest tracks above Shoulthwaite Gill to near the top of Raven Crag where a short walk lead the team to the casualty.
The wound was dressed and the man was able to hobble down the steps to the team vehicles.
He was then driven down to Keswick base and transferred to a waiting ambulance.
It was the third callout of the year for the rescue team volunteers.
They were out for around two hours and 20 minutes and 11 Keswick team members were involved.
