The search is on for a new chief executive of Cumbria County Council.
The authority is advertising for an innovative CEO to lead it until March 31 2023.
Previous chief executive Gill Steward left the council last year and in December, bosses told the Local Democracy Reporting Service in December that they were considering the way forward, including recruiting a new CEO or passing in the role’s duties to existing officers.
The county council – along with district authorities – will cease to exist under local government reorganisation, which will see the creation of two councils next year.
Cumberland Council will replace the district authorities for Carlisle, Allerdale and Copeland and Westmorland and Furness Council will replace Eden, Barrow and South Lakeland district councils from next year.
The county council has agreed to advertise for a new boss. The salary is £170,000 with up to £8,000 relocation allowance plus local government terms and conditions.
Cumbria County Council said that the post was “key to ensuring that the county council receives the strategic leadership it needs to deliver quality services to residents and businesses as well as overseeing a number of high-profile transformational programmes and projects.
“The successful candidate will also have a key role to play in the county’s recovery from COVID-19 and will also work closely with Government, on behalf of the county council, on a range of matters.”
Applications are open until January 30 and the successful candidate is described as: “innovative, collaborative, a leading force in change management” with a strong track record in developing and maintaining partnerships.
