A walker was airlifted to hospital after he fell 200m from near the summit of Helvellyn.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were deployed to Swirls car park next to Thirlmere and the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) took to the sky and were first on scene.
GNAAS advised that the man was located next to Red Tarn on the east side of Helvellyn. As this is the area covered by Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, the Keswick team stood down.
The man had slipped while ascending a snow slope on March 7.
Despite the massive fall, he was fortunate in being able to walk away.
However, due to concerns over a possible spinal injury, the man was airlifted to hospital for further checks.
