Mountain rescue team volunteers have eaten with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay 1,000ft in the air in his latest TV show.
In the BBC’s Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars, which aired last night, he sent the teams to Honister Slate Mine.
The show follows an Apprentice-style format in which 12 food and drink entrepreneurs battle it out to win an £150,000 investment in their business from Ramsay.
The show says: “Gordon sends his contenders to the glorious Lake District – it’s an epic location that will see them having to dig deep to succeed. Not only will the teams have to hit Gordon’s surprise brief, they’ll need to overcome their fears as they face a terrifying challenge 1,000 feet in the air. “
They had to provide a meal for mountain rescue members at the top of the mine.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team posted pictures from the filming and said: “Here’s Keswick Dave and Cockermouth Alan enjoying haute cuisine with Gordon Ramsay.
“The rest of us having to make do with flapjack and crisps. Both had a good chat with Gordon who was really interested in mountain rescue and the Lake District.”
