A new highly experienced and skilled learning team has been appointed at Keswick Museum.
Steven Bogle, as learning and engagement facilitator, will take the lead on learning, engagement, events and activities.
He has more than 10 years’ experience of working with young people in both formal and informal educational environments, with a particular focus on autistic and SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) learners.
Prior to joining the museum, he has worked with the Scottish Maritime Museum, and was previously the access and learning officer for the Devil’s Porridge Museum in Eastriggs in south west Scotland. He holds an MA in educational philosophy and theory from the University of Glasgow, and undergraduate degrees in educational studies and sports coaching and development.
Alongside Steven, Claire Grant – the museum’s new learning and engagement deliverer – will be running sessions for schools, young people and families.
Claire was brought up on a working farm in Eskdale and has been an artist for more than 20 years, having studied constructed textile design at the University of Dundee.
She taught art and design in Oxfordshire for a decade before returning to her home county of Cumbria.
Combining her passion for teaching and art, she went on to set up her own business Active Art, leading workshops aimed at broadening the experience and exposure to art for primary, pre-school and community groups of all ages.
Becks Skinner, operations manager at the museum, said: “We are delighted to have found two such highly experienced and skilled individuals to join our growing team.
“The appointment of Steven and Claire will enable us to create and deliver an exciting brand-new programme of learning activities for people of all ages, in and beyond Keswick.”
- There will be free admission to the museum to children accompanied by a paying adult this summer to help with the cost of living crisis. And a call has gone out for volunteers to help out the front-of-house team over the summer to help greet visitors. To find out more, call in to the museum.
