The mayor of Allerdale visited a Keswick resident to congratulate her on her 90th birthday.
Marija Webb, wife of Canon Michael Webb, celebrated her birthday with a 1930s themed lunch for family and friends on the Murder on the Orient Express train at Bassenthwaite Lake Station and afterwards at the couple’s home in Wordsworth Street.
Allan Daniels popped in to wish her many happy returns.
Since retirement in 2011, they have lived in the house they bought in 1988. Marija maintains her interest in the work of Mothers’ Union through the branch at St John’s Church and is a member of the local swingfit dance class.
She trained as a beauty therapist in London and has three children, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, living in Scotland and Australia.
Dressmaking is her favourite hobby and she made the top which she wore at her party from lace bought in Serbia, the country from which her parents came in the 1920s.
