Cumbria is set to be battered by winds of up to 65mph today, the Met Office has warned.
It has issued a yellow weather warning – which is in place between 7am and 8pm.
The weather warning initially covered the coast of the county, but has now been extended to include all of Cumbria and the North East.
A yellow warning for rain has been issued for South West Scotland.
What to expect
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
- It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
