Cumbria’s HSBC bank branches have escaped the axe as the company announces another tranche of closures across the country.
HSBC has announced it is closing 114 branches next year, because it says, footfall is at an all-time low.
It said people have changed the way they bank and using online and telephone services has become the norm, particularly following the pandemic.
HSBC has branches in Penrith, Carlisle, Kendal, Workington and Barrow.
Earlier this year, it closed its branch in Whitehaven – one of 69 to be axed.
