Keswick’s Alhambra Cinema is hosting a sing-along version of the smash hit Matilda the Musical to raise funds for the Keswick Scout Hut at Ashness.
Girl Guides, Rainbows and Scouts will be joined by members of the public to sing their hearts out to some of the belting tunes in the musical.
All proceeds will go to the fundraising efforts of Keswick Scouts for their National Trust-leased hut at Ashness, which is also used by the town’s thriving youth club for outdoor activities.
The first hut at Ashness was a chicken shed, with the present one lovingly maintained for 37 years.
The Scouts have raised £50,000 of the required £200,000 for the new hut and hope to be in a position to build by spring 2024. Costs are high due to the inaccessibility of the site and the very special location.
The show will take place at the cinema on Monday, January 30, starting at 5.30pm.
Anyone who wants to donate to the cause can come along on the day with cash or card, or contact [email protected]
