Keswick Tourism Association has welcomed newly-elected director Jonathon Winter at its first board meeting of the year.
Jonathon, known as Jonny, is marketing manager at North England for Forestry England. He grew up in Keswick, where his family have owned and managed a range of tourism businesses.
After graduating, he returned to the area, spending almost five years with Cumbria Tourism promoting and growing the county’s £3 billion visitor economy. His current role includes promoting Whinlatter Forest, near Braithwaite.
“I’m excited to join KTA as a new director – being born and bred in and around Keswick and working within Cumbria’s visitor economy my whole career,” said Jonny.
“I’m looking forward to helping support the town’s tourism businesses in 2023 and beyond.
“There are challenges ahead but also fantastic opportunities to highlight the many things which make Keswick special to benefit everyone who lives and works in this wonderful town.”
Vanessa Metcalfe, KTA tourism manager, said: “We have always had a very close relationship with the Whinlatter Forestry England team, so we are delighted to welcome Jonny onto the KTA board.
“His wealth of industry and marketing knowledge and experience along with his love for the outdoors makes him a great addition to the team and we are really looking forward to working with him.”
KTA is an independent membership trade association whose purpose is to publicise and further the interests of Keswick and the north Lakes, and to assist members and visitors wherever possible.
