Keswick bed and breakfast owner Hannah Richardson has been appointed as the new chair of the Friends of Calvert.
Founded more than 35 years ago, the Friends of Calvert is a charity which promotes and supports all aspects of the work done by the Lake District Calvert Trust. In particular, the Friends raise money from subscriptions, donations, organised ticketed events and collections.
Before moving to Keswick last year, Hannah enjoyed a long and successful career in the charity fundraising sector, rising to director level and raising significant funds for international and national charities. She has also served as a charity trustee.
“It’s a real honour,” said Hannah, who has also been appointed as a trustee of the Lake District Calvert Trust,
“Friends of Calvert is a fantastic charity with wonderful, committed volunteers.
“I am looking forward to bringing my experience in the charity fundraising sector to the group.
“I would also like to increase our membership so more and more people can help Calvert make the Lakes accessible to everyone.”
Welcoming Hannah, Martin Mullin, chair of trustees at the Lake District Calvert Trust said: “We are thrilled to welcome Hannah both as a trustee and as chair of Friends of Calvert.
“With over 15 years’ experience in the charity fundraising sector, her input will be invaluable.”
Hannah takes over as chair of Friends of Calvert following the retirement of Bill Bell last year.
