A Lake District trig point believed to have been wrecked by vandals has been rebuilt this week.
Staff from the Lowther Estates have re-constructed the summit landmark on Loughrigg.
Eileen Jones, freelance journalist, writer and author, visits the top of Loughrigg at least once a week.
She told the Reminder: “It’s a real icon, and it has been a very different experience going up there every week. People have been standing around looking solemn, rather than celebrating their achievement, and it’s been sad to explain that it was most likely vandalism.
“This point means a lot to many people, and it’s wonderful to see the trig column restored.”
