Children and young people from Keswick and the surrounding area now have a new venue to go for activities.
Having been based at Kong Adventure for four years, Keswick Youth Centre Services has now found a venue large enough for its growing membership at the town’s Rawnsley Centre.
It is somewhere for young people to meet their friends, develop their interests, and keep connected with services available to them.
Keswick Youth Centre youth workers, volunteers and supporters have been busy getting the venue up and running, ready for an open evening today, Thursday June 15, at 7pm.
Members, parents and families and the Keswick community are invited to see the new centre and the activities available.
It will be officially opened by Sam Scott, High Sheriff of Cumbria, who has supported volunteers and youth work for children and young people for many years.
A £5,000 donation from the Holroyd Trust has enabled KYCS to develop a youth centre that will meet the needs of young people in Keswick and the rural area, giving them somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
Phill Roberts, chair, said: “Children and young people living in Keswick and the surrounding rural area have been waiting for a new youth centre for several years. I would like to thank Kong Adventure for hosting us for the past few years but the growing membership and expanding services required a larger venue.”
