A former BT telephone box in Lake Road which was given a new lease of life as a base for a public defibrillator by Keswick Lions has now been kitted out with bright new logos.
Life-saving defibrillators, which cost around £2,000 each, are available in locations in the Keswick area giving members of the public access in the event that someone is having a heart attack.
Some members of Keswick Lions club have already undertaken a “Heart Start” course, which gives basic life-saving skills. However, the new public defibrillators can be used by anybody under instruction from the North West Ambulance Service.
Diane Cannon, who is president of Keswick Lions, said: “The phone box has now been cleaned and the logos have been put in place, so people know what it is. We hope it is never needed, but it is good to know the life-saving defibrillator is there.”
