A natural infinity pool in the Lake District fells being made more popular after being featured heavily on social media is continuing to cause “significant” parking issues in the Thirlmere area.
The September meeting of St John’s Castlerigg & Wythburn Parish Council heard that the volume of parking associated with people visiting the pool overlooking the reservoir was getting out of hand with nobody appearing to be managing the situation.
It was agreed that the parish clerk Becx Carter formally asks Cumberland Council to look at installing double yellow lines at the junction with Thirlmere Village Hall.
She has also been asked to raise the issue as part of a response to the Lake District National Park Authority and ask for pop-up car parks to be considered, and visitor management to direct traffic to park at Swirls where there are toilets.
