A meeting organised to help save the under threat Keswick branch of the Royal British Legion is to be held at the town’s rugby club tomorrow.
Earlier this year The Keswick Reminder reported that the organisation that supports armed forces personnel in and around the town, both emotionally and financially, was in danger of closing unless it was able to enlist new volunteers to help in its running.
A recent recruitment day at Keswick market, run by county members, did not produce a big response and the branch remains in danger of folding.
Keswick member Karen Roberts said: ”It would be awful to lose this link to the past, which still works to support former service personnel in need locally. You don’t need to have served in the forces to be a member.”
Anyone interested in finding out more should attend the meeting which starts at 7.15pm on Wednesday, October 18.
