A Keswick business owner has taken to social media to announce the closure of her vegan restaurant and to thank customers and staff.
Owner Kat Hale of Plant by Kat’s Kitchen on Main Street said that instead of focusing on the challenges which has led to the decision to close later this month, she wanted to celebrate the impact that the eatery has had in this corner of the United Kingdom.
“Our journey was marked by many milestones,” she said in a Facebook post. “We have introduced many to the wonders of plant-based food, shown that even one meal can contribute to a kinder world.”
Kat added that she and her staff had shared their knowledge freely, hosted celebrities, graced mainstream media, represented Cumbria in the Houses of Parliament, collaborated with a vegan chef school in Sweden and mentored a trainee to successful completion, earned the title of number one vegan dining spot in various publications and received commendations from the renowned food critic, Grace Dent.
“We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support of our kind and compassionate customers,” she said. “Each person who stepped through our doors generously parted with their hard earned money and contributed to our success.”
She added that over the years the business had had the privilege of providing many local youths with their first jobs.
“Several of them continued with us doing their higher education,” she said. “Witnessing their growth has been a genuine joy.”
Kat said she had also been buoyed by “an exceptional group of individuals who constantly had our backs”.
“The warmth and friendliness frequently highlighted in reviews spoke volumes about their dedication,” she said, adding: “We are profoundly grateful to everyone who joined us on this remarkable journey.”
The Reminder was unable to contact Plant by Kat’s Kitchen by the time the paper went to press.
