Threlkeld is one of only five venues in the United Kingdom to stage a World Singing Day event tomorrow – and all are invited to join in.
The idea was founded in 2012 in Colorado by musician Scott Johnson as a day to bring people together in their communities around the world through the simple act of singing together.
It is not religious or political and is simply a joyful community experience for singers whatever their ability.
The Threlkeld event is being led by choir leader Dave Camlin and Threlkeld Events. It all happens tomorrow (Saturday October 21) starting with a free sing-along event at Castlerigg Stone Circle at 12.30pm. Then at 2pm a singing workshop will take place in Threlkeld Village Hall where participants will learn some songs together. The outdoor sing-along might be moved to the village hall if it is wet.
In the evening Threlkeld Village Hall will be hosting a concert which will feature two choirs led by Dave Camlin, Sing Owt and Wild Chorus.
Those who attend the afternoon workshop will have the opportunity to join with the choirs for the songs learned in the afternoon. A limited number of floor-spots will also be available with the theme of ‘Around the World’.
