A village pub has undergone a major refurbishment marking a new chapter in its history.
The upgrade at the Mill Inn at Mungrisdale, which is owned by Robinsons Brewery, has focused on enhancing the internal space, while creating a fresh look for the external drinking area.
Although the project was primarily an internal renovation, external signage has been replaced and it has included the addition of new planting to the exterior, creating an inviting atmosphere.
A key objective of the refurbishment was to eliminate the sense of disjointedness within the internal trading space. This was achieved by removing internal walls and introducing new glazed screens, providing unobstructed views throughout the pub.
The result is a flowing and welcoming environment, now with increased usage across all areas. Feedback from the local community has been very positive.
The kitchen has also been updated with new equipment, including modern extraction systems.
The re-design also incorporates a visual journey into the history of the pub, the surrounding area, and local maps. The Mill Inn has embraced a significant amount of bric-a-brac, paying homage to its heritage.
The exterior has received a facelift with updated signs, contributing to the overall refreshed look of the hostelry. The decision to replace traditional imagery with historical elements reflects the commitment to preserving the pub’s rich history while embracing a contemporary aesthetic.
Pub partners Steve and Geri Bailey said: “The refurbishment has been really well received by our local community. Everyone is impressed with the new look, we’ve been really happy to welcome old customers back as well as greeting new ones!”
