A group of people who follow the Max Out in the Lake District Facebook page have started their own group on the social media site.
They are among the many who descend on Keswick to visit the statue of the late springer spaniel Max in Hope Park while also following the adventures of Paddy, Harry and Tally, all dogs owned and exercised by Kerry Irving.
The Cumbria Fans of Team Irving meet approximately once a month in the Hope Park Cafe just to natter and they are inviting any visitors to Keswick to join them for a couple of hours. This week they had visitors from Chester and the north-east of England.
“We would love more Keswickians to join us,” said Patricia Sweeten, one of those who set up the group. “When the weather improves we intend to have short walks and treasure hunts too.
“Last week we had a raffle and a quiz and the proceeds raised went into the collection box next to Max in the park. The lovely staff, who are always so accommodating to us, also donated money.”
