Lakeland Care Services Ltd has issued a robust rebuttal to Care Quality Commission findings relating to the Holmewood Residential Care Home in Cockermouth.
Lakeland Care Services said that it “strongly disputes” much of the detail presented in the CQC’s report as “inaccurate, exaggerated and misleading”.
The company says that it has raised a formal complaint about the conduct of the inspection and the inspectors which has yet to be formally addressed. It says that the regulator has been “incredibly slow in its activity” and has failed to re-inspect the service despite complaints raised and the progress made since the initial inspection took place last July.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We acknowledge there were some shortfalls with regards to the state of the home at the time of the inspection, however we feel strongly that the details in this report are misleading and we have raised this directly with CQC. The report contains a number of inaccuracies and fails to highlight much of the positive evidence provided about the care given to the residents.
“We take any allegations of inadequate service very seriously and feel that we have sufficiently addressed the relevant concerns raised by the regulator. The team at Holmewood Residential Care Home have worked incredibly hard to ensure that we can continue to provide the level of care needed to our residents.
“We are extremely disappointed that CQC has not sought to engage directly with us further, formally acknowledge our complaints or come out to re-inspect the services. The inspection took place in July last year, further evidencing the inefficacy of the regulator in dealing with matters as serious as this.”
