The A66 was closed in both directions yesterday following two serious collisions.
The first incident happened near the Mungrisdale turn-off next to Lisco Farm between Threlkeld and Penruddock.
It was reported at 1.30pm and the road remained closed until after 5pm.
A second collision was reported at around 6.20pm and the road was closed between the Rheged roundabout and Penruddock and the road was closed while emergency services attended.
It appears the road has now reopened.
