A new-look ‘Sponsor a Pony’ campaign has been launched at Keswick’s Calvert Stables.
It means that horse-lovers around Cumbria and beyond can sponsor an animal housed at the Little Crosthwaite site – online.
The stables are currently home to 12 ponies including Tess and Drummer, two adorable, mini Shetland therapy ponies who work hard with the stables’ team in the newly-established mindfulness sessions.
And from now on, in just a few short clicks, supporters can choose their pony, choose the length of sponsorship and for those wishing to sponsor for a loved one, they can choose to have a gift certificate delivered directly to their inbox. Sponsorship starts from just £10 a month.
Calvert Stables manager Lou Hogan said: “We’re blessed here to be supported by our amazing local community.
“As a compact team of just six staff, we simply couldn’t deliver the 1,000 riding, trap driving, pony care and mindfulness sessions each year to over 2,000 participants without the support of 50 volunteers who tirelessly give their time. But we appreciate not everyone has that precious time to spare.
“That’s where pony sponsorship comes into its own – it’s a really lovely way to stay connected with all the goings on here at Calvert Stables, as well as showing support and love for your chosen pony.
“We all really hope the online sponsorship will take this support to a whole new level.”
Fundraising officer Julia Metcalf said: “Our four-legged friends down at the stables are an amazing bunch.
“Over the years we’ve had generous support from all over the county and the country for our ponies. But we’re absolutely delighted that the process has now been made so much easier.
“Sponsorship of our ponies provides a regular source of income that supports the work of Calvert Stables. We really hope this online development will encourage many more people to consider choosing one of the team to support.”
