A Keswick couple who lost their young son from a brain tumour have smashed through their fundraising goal for the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) after taking on the Lakesman Challenge.
Little Rory Hall, the son of Matt and Amy Hall, was just seven months old when his treatment for medulloblastoma – a type of brain tumour – cost him his life. Since his death, Rory’s family and friends have raised nearly £70,000 in his memory for three different charities supporting children with cancer and their families.
Earlier this month Matt and Amy, along with Rory’s uncle Jim Hall, took on the triathlon in a relay with the goal of raising £4,000 for CCLG. Jim swam 1.2 miles in Derwentwater, Matt cycled 56 miles and Amy completed the 13.1-mile run. Jim’s wife Lucy completed the whole triathlon and finished third female overall.
“It went even better than we could have hoped for – we were absolutely chuffed to finish it in six hours and 18 minutes,” said a delighted Amy. “And we’ve also smashed through £5,000 on the fundraising. We can’t believe it, we’re over the moon!”
