Keswick’s Lions and Rotary clubs have joined forces to launch a Covid-19 Emergency Fund for people living in the CA12 postcode area.
Called the Keswick Lions and Rotary Covid-19 Emergency Fund, it is aimed at supporting individuals and families in the CA12 area who are facing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The two clubs have joined forces to offer emergency grants of up to £100, and are also signposting those in need towards other forms of support available.
Diane Cannon, president of Keswick Lions, said: “We’re starting to be concerned for people who may be facing financial difficulties at the present time, and although we can only make a small contribution, we hope it will help tide people over. The Lions and Rotary clubs successfully worked together following the flooding in 2015 and we hope to replicate that support now.”
People who want to apply to the emergency fund can either fill in a simple online form, or send an email or a letter with a short explanation of their current circumstances. Each application will be reviewed in confidence by one member from the Lions and Rotary clubs only.
Keswick Rotary president Neil Beresford said: “We’re really pleased to be working with the Lions again to support our community at this difficult time. If you are facing difficulty at this time, or know someone who is, please get in touch with us.”
You can apply for financial assistance via an online application form. Alternatively email [email protected] or write to: C/O Graham Thompson, 6A Briar Rigg, Keswick, CA12 4NW.
The clubs have each donated an initial £1,000 in to the fund and will be fundraising to top this up. Anyone who would like to support the emergency fund can donate:
