A hospice charity whose services cover Keswick are looking for volunteers to help with the re-opening of its shop in the town.
The Keswick shop is one of four that Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland is planning to reopen, in line with the proposed new guidelines from the Government for non-essential shops to be able to open again next month. The charities other shops to be re-opening will be at Carlisle, Penrith and Wigton.
However, the charity needs the help of the local community, and Julie Blundell, the hospice’s head of income generation and marketing, said: “We kindly ask for the support of volunteers. Perhaps your circumstances have changed and it now allows you the opportunity to give volunteer time. This can be short term or for longer if suitable. If so this would be of tremendous help. Are you on furlough, a student (over the age of 16) or perhaps have more time available to help a local Charity during these challenging times?”
The retail arm of Hospice at Home raises vital funds which are important to enable the charity’s clinical team to provide care and comfort within the home to the most vulnerable in the community.
Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland needs to raise 80 per cent of its annual running costs which equates to around £20,000 each week. This couldn’t be achieved without the kindness of the local community, businesses and organisations. The Hospice at Home service covers 1500 square miles from the Scottish Border to Stainmore and Allonby to Alston.
Julie added: “We would also like to thank our supporters who have been saving donations of items in preparation for the re-opening of the shops. Further information will be publicised once the phased re-opening dates of each shop are finalised.”
