Police have reopened the A66 near Keswick after a car and an HGV collided at the Portinscale junction this morning.
The collision, involving a Citroen C1 and a lorry, happened at around 11am. Crews from two fire engines used Holmato cutting gear to release the 72-year-old man driving the car before he was airlifted to Preston Hospital with suspected serious injuries. His condition is now described as stable. The driver of the HGV was uninjured.
