It is understood the westbound carriageway of the A66 near Keswick has reopened this afternoon.
Police closed the road, from the Oakhurst roundabout at Cockermouth and the A5086 near Embleton to deal with an incident involving four vehicles, at around 10.30am this morning.
Diversions were put in place but it has been reported that the road is now open to traffic.
