The Derwentwater Independent Hostel, near Keswick, welcomed its first visitors last Friday after nearly four months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Guests have been enjoying the views from the terrace overlooking the lake and of the surrounding fells, including Catbells and Skiddaw.
In addition to its hostel accommodation, the independent charity is also offering a number of camping pitches which have already gone down well.
Hostel manager Tim Butcher said: “We have had to reduce the number of people who can stay and we can’t offer dormitory beds this summer.
“But we decided that we want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to stay with us, so, in addition to creating the camping pitches, we have enabled our larger rooms to be booked at reduced costs.
“We have the ‘we’re good to go’ mark issued by VisitEngland and offer COVID-secure accommodation, but unfortunately it means we will not be opening our cafe this summer to limit the number of people on site.”
