Permission has been granted for the building of two affordable and local occupancy houses on a parcel of agricultural land at Threlkeld.
The Lake District National Park Authority’s head of development management approved the development for the three-and-four-bedroom properties on two plots of land at Dalegarth, at the western end of the village.
In 2014, outline permission was granted by the authority for the erection of two affordable and local occupancy houses on the western portion of the site, which have now been completed.
Reserved matters permission was also agreed for two local occupancy houses on the eastern portion of the site and work has started on the foundations.
The head of development management considered a fresh application for the erection of two houses on the eastern portion of the site, as an alternative to the approved reserved matters.
One of the houses would be of single storey form and appearance, with rooms in the roofspace, while the other would be of one and half storey massing with the upper floor provided with gables and dormers. Both would be substantially stone clad.
A layout has been submitted that proposes a paired access, a footway across the front and a gravel drive where the public footpath runs.
