A number of people who visited Keswick during the first COVID-19 lockdown have been fined by magistrates.
The cases were dealt with at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Monday where Simon Hewison (38), Hawkesley Road, Sunderland, was charged with being at Keswick on 26th May without reasonable excuse during the emergency period of coronavirus restrictions. He pleaded guilty and was fined £80.
Also charged with committing the offence in Keswick on 6th June were Aleksandra Krowiak (27) and Filip Krowiak (33), both of Duke Street, Northampton, who each pleaded guilty to staying overnight in the town.
Aleksandra Krowiak was was fined £210 and Filip Krowiak — who the charge stated had breached the COVID regulations by staying overnight at Myrtle Bay, Keswick — was fined £373.
Each of those convicted of the COVID offences was ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
