Keswick’s new one-way traffic route is set to become permanent next year, says town clerk Lynda Walker.
The temporary system along Station Street and St John’s Street was brought in by Cumbria County Council last summer under emergency coronavirus powers.
In her report to last week’s town council meeting, Mrs Walker said the route in the direction from Penrith Road to Ambleside Road is likely to progress to a permanent traffic regulation order in the next financial year.
Other future changes to emerge following the latest meeting of the Keswick transport study’s implementation group include a pedestrian crossing being installed at High Hill to coincide with the Premier Inn hotel development.
